First, the packing and moving of my MIL into her own apartment in a senior housing facility. After the movers drove away with her stuff, I went to pick up my youngest (who had been spending part of her break in Chicago with her sister), and we headed out so that she could attend a state recruitment for child welfare caseworkers. We had a couple of interesting adventures during that outing (and we picked up some birthday presents for her).
Then it was home to the clean up and takeover of our house - which will be ongoing for a long time. At least that is how it looks right now. Since most of our living room furniture belonged to my MIL the living room is looking sparse right now. And the kitchen needs to be totally cleaned and rearranged. And it will be quite some time, I think, before we can move into the master bedroom. But we are moving in that direction now.
Before break started, I was able to mark all the pieces for the Corn and Beans block and do the first hand piecing step. See?
Not very exciting, right? As of now, it looks like I won't be doing any more hand piecing until I'm back at work on Tuesday, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. (I did sneak downstairs and spend fifteen or twenty minutes hand quilting the big UFO in the basement today. I think I am going to have to give up on the idea of entering the challenge at Quilting for the Rest of Us. I had a great idea for using up stash pieces with flowers somewhere, but the deadline is Thursday, and I just can't see how I find the time to get it done. Maybe I will blow off some of the work to be done and surprise myself. But there is so much to do that I doubt I will spend much time blowing off. Sigh. Our dining room table isn't even upstairs yet.
So those are my excuses, and I'm sticking to them. Of course, I'd like to be doing a bit more blogging too!
